Wading Pool Conversion
Vortex Splashpad® replaces aging wading pool
Faced with an aging wading pool that was expensive to maintain, the City of Norman, Oklahoma searched for a replacement activity that would not only replace the existing wading pool, but would also decrease operating costs. With the knowledge that they were making the best possible investment, the City of Norman began their first Splashpad® project in Andrews Park.Since installing the Splashpad®, park attendance has increased exponentially. Not only did local residents flock to this new activity, the Splashpad® also drew in groups from daycamps and daycares who were excited about the safe and high energy experience.
With no lifeguard needed, and only minimal maintenance staff required, the Splashpad® proved to be a cost effective replacement for the wading pool.
“At any given time during the summer, we can have between 50 and 130 children playing on the Splashpad®. We attract several daycares and day-camps throughout the area as they are attracted to this high energy and safe activity.”
