In its 2020-2025 Strategic Reflection, the City of Montmagny set a goal to improve public sites located along waterways, turning them into attractions that set the city apart. With this vision in mind, the city decided to add Vortex waterslides adjacent to the pool at Camping Pointe-aux-Oies.
At the top of the 10-meter tower, visitors can enjoy a splendid view of the coastline before taking off down one of three colorful PrecisionRideTM slides. Younger guests can enjoy a smaller slide adapted to their size, in addition to a Vortex Splashpad® introduced in 2020. These new features not only delight residents and campers but they have also become tourist attractions that appeal to out-of-town vacationers during the summer season. The Pointe-aux-Oies water park was very busy in summer 2022, with over 5,000 visitors.
The waterslide project was made possible thanks to a partnership with the Corporation du Camping Pointe-aux-Oies and financial assistance from the MRC de Montmagny through the “Politique de soutien aux projets structurants pour améliorer les milieux de vie.”
This waterslide project received the 2023 AQLM Excellence Award in the Innovation and Business Development category.
