Kids, parents and town officials couldn’t be happier with the enlarged and renovated aquatic play area at McFee Park. The 8,000 sq.ft. nature-themed Splashpad® and Water Journey™ Labyrinth make this the largest aquatic recreational facility in East Tennessee. It provides a unique recreational experience for local residents and those from surrounding communities. In fact, it was honored by the Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association for a “Four Star Award for a Renovated Facility”. Town management and Vortex used the NPPGov Purchasing Program to avoid going to bid, completing the high-quality award-winning project in record time. The Splashpad continues to exceed on-going objectives. While the Splashpad itself is free, its existence has generated more interest in picnic pavilion rentals, and now draws visitors from a wider area.
