Story Land Adds Immersive Water Area By Vortex

Nestled in the heart of Glen, New Hampshire, Story Land has been delighting families since 1954. As a classic amusement park, it traditionally featured only a few water attractions—a log flume and a raft ride. But with hot summer days impacting attendance, the park’s owners saw an opportunity to enhance their offering with a dynamic new water play area. The result? Moo Lagoon, a fully themed, farm-inspired aquatic play zone that brings big splashes and even bigger smiles.

Inspired by nearby attractions like tractor rides, a “crazy barn”, and a farmstand, the new space brings the charm of rural life to life through playful water features and storytelling.

Partnering with Vortex, Story Land introduced a custom-built Splashpad®, a multi-level Elevations™ play structure, and a trio of exhilarating waterslides.

The focal point of the Splashpad® is the Elevations™. It features three different slides to cater to different adventure levels. Various water features on the structure allow kids to interact with each other on the Elevations™ itself or with children on the Splashpad® below. The “wow” factor at the top is a Supersplash No2, a dumping bucket with custom artwork to mimic a wooden pail. It also includes the new Moo Lagoon logo.

The Splashpad® itself features a multitude of whimsical aquatic play features, including Horse Cannon, a custom Cow cannon, giant Daisies, a Garden Bug, several Cattail and Cattail Twirl, and the very popular Tractor Loop.

The adjacent Big Splash waterslides feature three intertwined and looping flumes, both open and closed, for a bigger adventure. The waterslides feature PrecisionRide™, a Vortex-exclusive technology that uses a specialized molding process to create a glossy, long-lasting finish on both sides of the flume, delivering a virtually frictionless surface for a smoother, more enjoyable rider experience.

Summer 2024 was hot; attendance was up, and feedback from visitors was extremely positive. Overall, it was a very successful summer for Story Land, and owners believe that Moo Lagoon was a significant driver of that success.

Testimonials

« This was a fun project to work on. At times I have had projects that were challenging but to do a kids farm themed area was fun from the start. Working with Vortex, local contractors and the engineers was great to see what was developed on paper become a reality. It was awesome to see the guests come in and see the fun elements and area of the park. »
