The City of Coventry’s vision was to create a waterpark that would be a vibrant, accessible community hub. Vortex and Ustigate Waterplay designed an accessible, inclusive aquatic play installation to weave around the winding waterslide structures. The 3,650 sq.ft. Splashpad® and Elevations™ structure, with a water-meadow theme, can be enjoyed by people with physical challenges, including those in wheelchairs. Footbridges have replaced the Elevations steps, and more spray elements line the way to encourage discovery and play while appealing to a broad range of users. The Wave Coventry won a World Waterpark Association Leading Edge Award in October 2019 and is already becoming one of the most successful leisure centers in the UK.
